USANA Athletes: A Welcome, a Benefit, & Impressive Accomplishments

We’re days away from the start of Wimbledon, arguably the most famous tennis tournament in the world. Will you be watching?

As many of you know, USANA Health Sciences is proud to be the official health supplement supplier to the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour. We wish the best to all of the athletes as they compete in The Championships!

Welcome, George
In other USANA Athletes news, we’re excited to announce that George Bovell, who won an Olympic bronze medal while swimming for Trinidad and Tobago, is the newest USANA-sponsored athlete.

Here’s what he had to say about USANA’s nutritional supplements:

“In training, I push my body to the absolute limit. In the past I would get run down — my energy levels would drop. Since I started taking USANA products there has been a noticeable difference in my performance. I know USANA products are safe and effective. I won’t put anything else into my body.”

Congratulations, Melanie
If you’re a fan of USANA Athletes on Facebook, you probably already heard the news. But we would like to again congratulate expert triathlete Melanie McQuaid on her recent victory at the European Championships. Read Mel’s blog for a great recap of the event.

As a bonus, Mel said kind words about USANA. It’s a wonderful partnership. (P.S. Be sure to follow her on Twitter at @racergirlmel).

Skiathon for a Great Cause
Here’s another item you may have read about on our Facebook page, but we definitely wanted to post it here as well.

A skiathon to benefit Kyle Eade, a pro skier who was paralyzed during a practice jump earlier this year, takes place tomorrow, June 2o, in Clermont, Florida. Kyle is a new USANA Associate, signing up under good friend and USANA-sponsored athlete Ryan Dodd. If you can’t make it to the event, PayPal donations are gladly accepted. Way to Go, Coach!
The San Francisco Chronicle published an outstanding article about USANA Ruby Director Jennifer Azzi as she prepares for her first season leading the University of San Francisco women’s basketball team. Well worth a read.

Hail to the Chief
Kansas City Chiefs Linebacker and USANA Associate Andy Studebaker recently received some face time in the Chiefs’ video center. Check out the clip of Todd Haley on June 13 (From the Podium: Todd Haley; he talks about Andy at the 5:30 mark)

Also, watch as Andy sits down with reporters on June 12 (Inside the Locker Room: Andy Studebaker)

Stay Tuned…
Keep an eye out for even more events involving USANA Athletes. Two items on the calendar include:

  • Boxer Timothy “Desert Storm” Bradley is moving up a weight class to take on Carlos Abregu on July 17 in Rancho Mirage, California. The bout is scheduled to be televised on HBO. Here’s a story from the Desert Sun newspaper.
  • Thomas Kenney, a mixed martial artist, is part of Long Beach Fight Night on July 18 at Long Beach City College.

We’ll have more information about these events as they draw closer. Please feel free to let us know of any other events, accomplishments, etc. involving USANA Athletes.
