Experience Africa with Werner Berger

When the lights dimmed in EnergySolutions Arena and several red-shirted individuals stepped into a spotlight on an otherwise darkened stage, a hush fell over the audience. You knew something special was about to happen.

And then, one by one, members of the group took turns speaking about an emotional experience that forever changed their lives.

For these members of the USANA Family, each of whom trekked to Mt. Everest Base Camp — 17,600 feet — and back earlier this year, their stories of determination touched the hearts of thousands who were seated in the darkened arena on the final day of the 2010 USANA International Convention. Please read more about their incredible journey here and here.

A New Adventure
Werner Berger, a USANA Associate and the oldest person in the Western world to summit Mt. Everest, led the group on the Everest Base Camp Trek in May. Now, he’s about to lead another group — this time throughout Africa’s Serengeti and to the peak of Mt. Kilimanjaro.

Werner’s reached the top of Kilimanjaro twice, and this time he invites members of the USANA Family to join him. Why? Read how Werner describes the purpose of the adventure:

“To provide peak experiences only available in Africa…Africa in the raw! The Serengeti and its ocean of animals, the magical Ngorongoro Crater, Maasai life, Olduvai Gorge, and finally the glacier of Mt. Kilimanjaro (while it is still there).”

Kilimanjaro, in its own right, is an experience not to be missed.

“Climbing Kilimanjaro is the highlight of most visitors’ experiences in Tanzania,” Werner writes. “Few mountains can claim the grandeur and breathtaking views. Hiking on the ‘rooftop of Africa’ — the highest point Kilimanjaro, an aerial view of the receding glacier on the continent at 19,340 feet — is the adventure of a lifetime, especially since, if paced well, everyone from seasoned trekkers to first-time enthusiasts can scale this magnificent peak.”

Here are a few details:

  • What: The Safari and the Climb of Mt. Kilimanjaro

Heshie and Werner, you are two very special people and I feel most priviledged to have met your acquaintance through USANA. I got goosebumps reading about the upcoming wedding ceremony atop Kilimanjaro. What an amazing life journey both of you are manifesting. That you are making the extra effort to give others a once in a lifetime experience, too and leveraging that to help the children in the area is monumental. You are truly living a dream! Blessings to you both for a long and happy life together.
