USANA Notebook: Reaching Peak(s), Logo Gear, & More!
In my previous life as a journalist, I often gathered information that might not make it on its own as a story but would fit splendidly in a so-called Reporter’s Notebook — a hodgepodge of interesting news and notes.
I thought the approach would work just as well in blog form. So below is the first in an occasional series of posts in which I will compile various tidbits from within the corporate walls or from out in the field. The series will also at times include commentary on what’s happening throughout our industry and in social media.
Enjoy! As always, please share this information with your networks and feel free to send along information that could be included in future posts.

It truly is a year for breaking through and achieving dreams. It seems many in the USANA Family are putting aside their fears, pushing through barriers, and setting sights on achieving some extreme goals!
Earlier this week I received a short note from Skip Kanester, a Gold Director in California. He sent along a few photos of his wife, Ellen Barnett, who recently trekked to the top of Mt. Whitney with some friends.
He reports that Ellen packed USANA Nutrimeal and Rev3 Energy Surge Packs for the trip, which she gladly shared with her climbing companions. And she wore stylish USANA logo gear (see item below). “USANA Gold at the top of Mt. Whitney!” Congratulations!
MORE VIEWS FROM THE TOP: But that’s not the only trek to the top we’ve heard about lately. You might remember this blog about a group of climbers who also summitted Mt. Whitney, the highest peak in the lower 48 states. The “Ten to the Top” team took the opportunity to raise money for Children’s Hunger Fund.
And, of course, you can’t forget about the group of 40 dedicated and determined individuals who reached Mt. Everest Base Camp. The leader on that trek, Werner Berger, is already far along in planning his next journey. He’s taking another group on the expedition of a lifetime, this time to Africa to conquer Mt. Kilimanjaro.
WEARING USANA ON YOUR SLEEVE … HEAD, BACK, ETC.: Were you first in line at #USANA10 to pick up the hottest new USANA logo gear? Do people sometimes call you Mr./Ms. USANA by mistake due to your fashion-forwardness and stylish embroidery? If so, kudos to you!
Here’s a fun blog post courtesy of USANA 10-Star Diamond Director Collette Larsen (thanks to Dax Ross for the heads-up).
Oh, and if you’re looking to pick up some of your own USANA logo gear…
YEE-HAW! FORKLIFT RODEO: We wish the best of luck to USANA’s Brenda Brown, who will be competing at the 8th Annual Utah Manufacturers Association Forklift Rodeo on Sept. 25. This year the rodeo will be held in USANA’s own warehouse.
It’s home-field advantage for Brenda, though it’s not like she’ll need it. She won the event a few years back and placed third in 2009, making her the only driver — male or female — to place more than once in the event’s history.
UPDATE: Holy cow! I just heard that USANA will have SIX employees — Aaron Vogan, Brenda Brown, Juan Garcia, Roger Seeley, Shilo Shepherd, and Robert Trujillo — competing on Saturday. Best of luck to all competitors!
Do you know someone who’s done something worthy of recognition on What’s Up, USANA? If so, please let me know about it and I’ll consider including it in a future Reporter’s Notebook.
