Women in Business: 5 Tips for Success

USANA Women in Business Vancouver

High heels. Little black dresses. Pearls. Pink boas.

What do all of these words have in common?

They were all a part of USANA Canada’s most recent event — Women in Business.

USANA Women in Business VancouverYes, this one-of-a-kind cocktail party — which took place in three cities across the country — allowed women to put on their finest dress, slip on their favorite pumps, and enjoy some delicious hors d’oeuvres.

But don’t let the feathery pink boas fool you; this event was full of depth, empowerment, and authenticity. Inspiring speakers — such as Jen Groover and Belynda Lee — opened up and shared powerful stories and lessons they learned on the road to success and empowerment.

Just in case you missed it, here’s a small sample of the amazing takeaways:

1. Invest in Yourself

“You could be in a million other places and investing in a million other things, but you are here investing in yourself.”

— Jen Groover, media mogul and entrepreneur

Life pulls you in every direction, but don’t get caught up and lose yourself. Take time to find out what your purpose is and invest in your personal growth. Then you are ready to take on the world.

2. Think Big

“You have to envision yourself where you want to be.”

— Vivian Lee, Emerald Director

Do you sometimes feel like you have a cap, that you’ll never reach the top? Stop limiting yourself and start envisioning. Before you go to bed, imagine where you want to be and how you will get there. You will be amazed where it will lead you.

3. Embrace Your Uniqueness

“Your uniqueness is your power. You’re given your own unique gifts to fulfill your purpose.”

— Jen Groover, media mogul and entrepreneur

You can’t know your brand until you know who you are. Don’t try to fit in the crowd and be like everybody else. In being yourself you can discover your real strengths and work to develop them and accomplish incredible things.

4. Keep Your Focus

“Don’t get distracted by anything — focus on your team and your work.”

— Bibiana Pau, 4-Star Diamond Director

Success doesn’t just happen, you have to make it happen. If you want to be successful you have to learn how to have confidence and lead your team. You need to learn from others and then go home and apply it. Then you can share your story of success, for success breeds success. Do it. Do it now. Do it right now.

5. Persevere

“There is nothing standing in the way of your success. The unknown is your journey to your destiny.”

— Belynda Lee, USANA vice president of Canada and North American Asian market

Even when life deals you a difficult hand, remember that you hold your own destiny. You can choose how to act. You have the power to get up and try again. Tenacity is embedded in every single one of us, so never give up. No matter how difficult it gets, focus on your goals, look for the positives, and find one thing to celebrate every day.

An Empowering Evening

The evening was full of motivating stories, networking opportunities, tips for personal and business growth, and, of course, bonding. “Us women love an excuse to dress up,” said Builder Janine Karlsen. “[This event] is also great way to share USANA with my friends.”

USANA Women in Business VancouverBut make no mistake — although the evening’s lessons were focused toward women, it was open to everyone, and quite a few men took advantage of the opportunity to learn more about the women around them and how to connect with them.

“It is very important for us to really understand women, where they’re coming from, and the best way to approach them as you build your USANA business,” said Diamond Director Germain Lafortune. “Next time make sure, guys, that you are at the Women in Business event.”

As you can see, Women in Business is one event you certainly don’t want to miss. If you didn’t make it this year, take a page out of our book and learn how to reach out to the women around you.

Then be sure and get ready for next year’s event — not to mention the events in between — and we’ll see you there!
