Infographic: The Workout Behind Your Holiday Meal

The next time you sit down for a big holiday meal, pause for a second. Look at all the tasty food. And when you take each bite, savor it. Because even though these meals are only a few times a year, and they taste delicious, the calorie count can soar really quickly.

But no one wants to think about the nutritional value of what they’re eating, especially around the holidays. We just want to enjoy a good time with family and friends.

Still, there’s that nagging voice: “No. Put the fork down. You don’t need a third serving of turkey.”

The agony of choosing between your head and your stomach can be excruciating. “But I can do pushups for 10 minutes to burn off those calories,” you may tell yourself. That’s when you realize: “No, I can’t do pushups for 10 minutes — or even one minute.”

That’s the point though. You have to do a ridiculous amount of exercise to burn off the more than 2,000 calories from the average holiday meal — like, almost four hours’ worth.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not trying to discourage you from enjoying your holiday meal. Just keep this infographic — designed by USANA’s own Taylor Romney — in mind when you reach for that second slice of pumpkin pie.
