Women of USANA — It’s Time to Make Your Health a Priority
May isn’t just a month to celebrate mothers — it’s also a time to celebrate women, specifically their health.
Kicking off on Mother’s Day, May 13-19, 2012, is National Women’s Health Week. It’s a weeklong health observance coordinated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office on Women’s Health.
Women often put others before them, and their well-being becomes secondary as a result. That’s why making health a top priority in every woman’s life is this year’s theme, “It’s Your Time.”
During this week women are encouraged to:
- Visit a health care professional to receive regular checkups and preventive screenings.
- Get active.
- Eat healthy.
- Pay attention to mental health, including getting enough sleep and managing stress.
- Avoid unhealthy behaviors, such as smoking and not wearing a seatbelt or bicycle helmet.
There are a number of activities being offered in conjunction with Women’s Health Week including, the 2012 Woman Challenge, National Women’s Checkup Day and Health Proclamations. There are a number of health resources on the Health Week website, where you can also check out events in your area.
Though National Women’s Health Week is a U.S. initiative, we encourage women all over the world to focus on themselves for a change.
Great job. Keep it coming.
