5-Day RESET

Are you powerless in the face of a brownie, cupcake, or [insert sweet treat here]? Are you fed up (literally) with your cravings for chips, French fries, or [insert your favorite indulgence here]? You’re not alone. If you’re tired of the ups and downs of weight management and want a clean break from unhealthy eating, there’s a place and plan just for you. Now’s the time to reset your  cravings and begin your journey to a happier, healthier life with USANA 5-Day RESET.

Welcome to the USANA® 5-Day RESET™ Weight Management Jumpstart

Transform Your Body and Your Life

The USANA 5-Day RESET weight management program makes it simple to cut down on calories while consuming a healthy diet with delicious, portion-controlled meal replacements and whole food snacks. Add exercise and healthy lifestyle habits to the mix, and you are well on the way to transforming your body and your life.

Break the Cravings Cycle

Cravings are caused by fluctuations in your biochemistry that may turn into an overwhelming need to eat certain foods. And the more of those craving-inducing foods you eat or beverages you drink, the more your body wants them. In no time at all, those bad habits can set in. It’s a vicious cycle, but it’s one you can break free from!

The 5-Day RESET is designed to help you end your destructive relationship with food and help you start successfully managing your weight. For five days, you’ll replace your trigger foods—especially simple carbohydrates—with healthier alternatives including delicious meal replacement shakes, to calm those cravings to help you begin to break your bad habits for good.

Retrain Yourself to Start Enjoying Healthier Alternatives5-Day RESET

Part of the 5-Day RESET is eating healthy, whole food snacks. This will help you to rediscover how enjoyable a naturally sweet piece of fruit can be. Mother Nature provides us with a variety of delicious and nutritious snacks—probably more of a variety than you think.

The 5-Day RESET provides a plan to discover the healthy foods you’ve been missing and will be able to enjoy eating for the rest of your life. Instead of focusing on what you won’t be eating during the five days, focus on the variety of foods you can eat. Check out the snack examples in the 5-Day RESET Program Guide to help you get started.

Feel Satisfied and Steady Energy All Day

Is “hangry” a term you often use in describing your emotions? If you’re like so many who consume a steady diet of simple carbohydrates and too little protein and fiber, then you probably start getting pretty hangry around lunchtime followed by an energy crash mid-afternoon. This is because your food digested too quickly and sent your blood glucose levels on a rollercoaster, causing inconsistent and unsustained energy.

In addition to a variety of healthy, whole food snacks, you’ll also enjoy the indulgent flavors of NutrimealTM shakes—convenient meal replacement shakes formulated with a healthy ratio of complete protein, healthy fat, fiber, and complex carbohydrates. For healthy adults, the 5-Day RESET will help get you back to a normal baseline with foods that digest more slowly, allowing you to enjoy the added benefit of better sustained energy throughout the day.

The Nutrition You Need

Because you’ll be eating healthy, whole foods and our nutritionally balanced Nutrimeal shakes, you will have a good start to proper nutrition. By incorporating the AM and PM HealthPaks into your daily routine, you’ll also be able to fill in the gaps and ensure your body gets the optimal amounts of macro- and micronutrients it needs.

These daily packs contain the best-selling CellSentials® and USANA® MagneCal D™ to give you the ultimate foundation for cellular nutrition. Plus, the HealthPak-exclusive CellSentials Booster is made entirely with USANA’s proprietary InCelligence Technology® for advanced health support that meets your individual needs.*

RESET Your Digestive Health

Your digestive system is at the core of good health. It allows your body to metabolize and absorb the nutrients you eat. But aging and years of eating a less-than-ideal diet may have been feeding the wrong kind of bacteria in your belly. These bacteria could be impacting not only your cravings, but also your mood, which may make you eat less-than-healthy foods. The 5-Day RESET contains five daily doses of USANA® Probiotic to promote a healthy balance of bacteria for improved digestion and overall health.*

Tracking Your Success

Nothing is quite as motivating as seeing progress. Inside your 5-Day RESET is an easy-to-follow tracking card. Place it somewhere you can see it every day and check each box after you successfully complete the activity. The act of checking off those daily victories will help you meet your personal health and weight management goals.

Drink Up

Did you know that dehydration could show up as hunger? It’s true! Fend off feeling hungry and support your weight management efforts by making sure you drink enough water during the 5-Day RESET. One way to make sure you’re getting enough H2O is to always have a water bottle on hand. Try infusing your water with citrus and cucumbers to make it even more refreshing. Green tea is also a smart choice. Just make sure you don’t drink caffeine too late in the day…or better yet, get the decaffeinated variety. If you’re a coffee lover, a cup a day is allowed, but avoid any sweeteners and cream.

You Know What They Say About Variety

When you think about it, five days really isn’t a long period of time. But if you’re too focused on what you’re not eating, it’s easy to get bored or dissatisfied. This can make five days feel like forever. While you want to have a healthy attitude about food, that doesn’t mean eating shouldn’t be enjoyable. Make sure you plan plenty of variety into your snacks. You can also avoid flavor fatigue by mixing up your shakes—try adding natural almond, pistachio, or raspberry flavor extract for a delicious kick!

Exercise5-Day RESET

Exercise is a key part of, well, life. It helps you stay sharp, manage weight, age well, boost your mood…you name it, exercise is good for it. The thought of exercising for many who are overweight can feel daunting. Start wherever you are with your physical fitness. If you currently aren’t exercising at all, make a goal to walk every day. Inviting a partner on your walks will help you stay committed and give you some added moral support. If you are already physically active, keep it up. Be mindful of high-intensity workouts during the 5-Day RESET, as you will most likely be consuming fewer calories than you normally would. Set a goal to get at least 30 minutes of light or moderate exercise every day.

 Extra Tips

5-Day RESETIf you feel out of control with your diet, you may want to use the 5-Day RESET as a time to get in touch with the emotional relationship you have with food.

  • Keeping a journal throughout the five days can help you identify and work through those feelings.
  • Note the things that trigger your non-hunger desire to eat or drink.
  • Make an action plan. (Try things like deep breathing, calling a good friend to catch up, walking in nature, or even just watching a funny video.)

Stress is a big trigger for overeating. So, managing your stress during this time will be important to your program success.

  • Enlist the support of your friends and family.
  • Create a playlist of upbeat music to keep you motivated and energized.
  • Commit to getting enough quality sleep. Set a bedtime and power off your electronics an hour before.
  • Try meditating in the evening or first thing when you wake up.

It can be challenging to take time for yourself, but even the smallest steps will lead to your success. Remember, this is a time to focus on yourself and your personal wellness. Learn from it and embrace the journey.

From the article “Check out the snack examples in the 5-Day RESET Program Guide to help you get started.”
Where is the 5-Day RESET Program Guide? We have done the RESET before, but I’ve forgotten the designated veggies/fruits and amounts to eat. We just bought the bags of shake powder this time and I need to know what amount and which veggies/fruit to eat during the first 5 Day regime. Also if there are any seasonings or oils they can be cooked with.

Hi K, thank you for your question!

In general, if you want to lose weight, aim for about 1200 calories per day for women, 1500 for men. Each Nutrimeal shake is 240 calories.

You can add fruit or veggies to your Nutrimeals, if you want, just calculate that into the overall calorie count. And try to limit fruit to three servings per day. You can also mix your shake with milk (dairy or plant-based).

You can eat most fruits and veggies along with healthy protein and fat sources. Limited olive, coconut, or other healthy oils are allowed. Here’s a list of several snack examples for inspiration (calories counts are approximate)!

      • Two hard-boiled eggs, sprinkled with salt and pepper to taste, along with a sliced medium bell pepper or tomato (200 calories)
      • Plain Greek yogurt (1/2 c / 170g), mixed with ½ diced medium apple or banana, sprinkled with a dash of cinnamon (optional) (150 calories)
      • 1 medium apple with 2 Tbsp. unsweetened almond or other nut butter (300 calories)
      • 1 cup raw vegetables (carrots, broccoli, celery, cauliflower, or cucumber) with 4 Tbsp. good-quality hummus or guacamole (200 calories)
      • Large mixed green salad with 1 hard-boiled egg; 2 oz. lean chicken, beef, or fish; and 50 calories of salad dressing, per label (300 calories)
      • 1 small baked sweet potato and 1 cup cooked broccoli with 3 Tbsp. parmesan cheese or 1 Tbsp. butter/plant-sterol butter substitute (200 calories)
      • 1 medium piece of fruit (apple, orange, pear, or nectarine) with 1 oz. cheese (200 calories)
      • 2 1-oz. deli slices of natural, low-preservative turkey, each rolled with 1-oz. cheese (250 calories)

      Also…200 or fewer calorie options
      • 1 cup cherries or berries with ½ cup of plain Greek yogurt
      • 1 cup melon or grapes with ½ cup of cottage cheese
      • 1 cup unsweetened applesauce with 1 Tbsp. sliced almonds
      • 3 oz. water-packed tuna or salmon mixed with 1 Tbsp. light mayonnaise or plant-based mayo substitute on 1 crispbread cracker
      • ½ cup ripe avocado chopped with 8 grape tomatoes (add green onion and a squeeze of fresh lime juice for flavor)
      • 20 raw almonds with 1 cup sugar snap peas
      • 1/3 cup roasted soy nuts or chickpeas
      • Unlimited raw celery, cucumber, lettuce or other leafy greens
      • 1 cup fresh veggies and 1 Tbsp. sunflower seeds
      • 2 pickled asparagus spears or dill pickles wrapped in two deli slices of natural, low-preservative ham
      • 3 cups popped popcorn (try seasoning with garlic or onion powder)
