USANA @ 20: A Series Celebrating USANA’s Greatness

USANA at 20

Where were you and what were you doing 20 years ago?

1992. It seems so long ago.

Perhaps you weren’t born yet, or at least too young to remember the Summer Games in Barcelona (looking at you, NEX!)

But for those of us who do remember the early ’90s, we were watching Home Improvement, Northern Exposure, and Murder, She Wrote (or our parents were), and if we weren’t desperately clinging to the ’80s we were listening to Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Hammer (sans the MC).

And, according to this handy guide

  • Gas cost $1.05 a gallon
  • Euro Disney opened in France
  • Bill Clinton was elected the 42nd U.S. president
  • Microsoft released Windows 3.1
  • Miley Cyrus was born

What a year, right?

Also that year, a soon-to-be revolutionary nutrition company formed in a small office in Salt Lake City, Utah.

20 Years of Changing Lives

USANA Health Sciences, Inc., founded by Dr. Myron Wentz, began changing lives in 1992. It aimed to help realize the founder’s dream of a world free from pain and suffering.

From its outset USANA’s mission has been to develop and provide the highest quality, science-based health products, distributed internationally through network marketing, creating a rewarding financial opportunity for our independent Associates, shareholders, and employees.

“We now know that optimal nutrition is key to long-term good health. Unfortunately, the high level of nutrition that is necessary to maintain good health is difficult to receive from the typical modern diet. And, the nutritional supplement industry was filled with incomplete, unbalanced products. This discovery led me to found USANA Health Sciences in 1992 in order to develop advanced nutritional formulations and manufacture premier nutritional supplements. Today, I believe that with the USANA Health Sciences products, people can live healthier lives, and I’m excited about sharing this good news with others.”

I joined so I can help others live a healthy, happy and abundant life. I have time to spend with my family and the money to do whatever I want and go wherever I want.

USANA Health Sciences formulates exceptional, science-based nutritional and personal-care products. However, inferior manufacturing can destroy even the greatest product formulations. For this reason, USANA manufactures its own nutritional supplements, and voluntarily meets pharmaceutical Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Pharmaceutical GMP standards are far more stringent than the food GMP requirements set by the U.S. government for supplements.

My wife Gertrude and I joined for health reasons in 1996 and are grateful for taking that initiative because my health especially has improved dramatically. The difference is like night and day. I can now enjoy things I could not then and my sinus allergy problem is now a thing of the past. I’m now 75 years young and have more energy than many 40 and 50 year olds. In fact I’m training and intend to run the 10 Km race on Father’s Day Marathon in Winnipeg. Thank you Dr Wentz and USANA.

I first heard about USANA in 1994, I was interested in better health at that time as I had become aware of the value of being responsible for that part of my life. My sponsor described the vision of Dr Wentz and showed me the products. At that time the Essentials came in three bottles, Megavitamin, Chelated Mineral and Antioxidant. We also had Chocolate Nutrimeal and Fibergy. That was it! Apparently that was enough.
I joined just in time for the 1994 Las Vegas Convention, only the second in company history. Since then I have not missed a Convention, the Twentieth USANA Convention will be my Nineteenth. Those Conventions as well as many Regionals have always been a mainstay of my USANA career. From a small conference room in the Las Vegas Riveria to the major event we now see has been a pleasure to have been a part of.

20 years ago was the point of uncertainty in my life. Now, it has come one full circle. I am experiencing the most trial moment in my life again. I am praying for a turning point for the better.
