Being Part of a Winning Team is Key to Success

I believe we all have opportunities to make a difference in someone’s life or to have an impact on a movement. The challenge for all of us is to decide when and where that opportunity lies and how far we are willing to go to make it a reality.

My chance came on Feb. 19, almost five years ago to the day. (Yes, it’s actually been that short of a period of time!) On that day, I began a journey to become part of a movement that I felt I could have an impact on. That movement was sharing the vision of Dr. Wentz and becoming a part of the incredible family known as USANA.

I made a life decision to come to this company and move my family to Park City for what we truly believed would be something special. It was a significant decision to leave a promising career of 15 years, but there was something about this company that lured me in and created a driven passion that I find invigorated every single day!

That passion was to do everything I could to make this incredible company a household name. But I obviously couldn’t do it alone. Many people may think they can, but being part of a winning TEAM is key to any success, and I found a group of people that any others in my position would fight for. The USANA Marketing, Creative, Communications, Social Media and PR groups are comprised of people that share that passion, like to push the limits, and are constantly looking for ways to help build the brand and the company for decades to come.

That passion is something that makes me excited to get the building every day, excited to see the team, excited to hear what’s next, and excited to watch what they create and build to help our USANA family grow.

Recognition comes in many forms for us — we receive awards; we see USANA in the press; we hear people talking; we see our incredible Associates and feel their passion; we watch the company grow year over year; we see expansion into new countries; we have new elite athletes and teams contact us every day, etc., etc., etc.

You can probably sense the excitement in my words. No day is the same and EVERY day brings about new challenges and new victories for us a company. We are all one and we know that the harder we work, and the more effort we put in, the more success we will see. It has been a great ride so far, and we have so much momentum right now that we are working even harder. It’s like pushing a snowball — it takes a lot of work to get it formed at first, but once it gets shape and starts rolling you push harder and harder to get to the end result.

The culmination of our team’s work was recently recognized buy Utah Business magazine when they selected me as one of the Sales and Marketing Executives of the Year. It was incredible recognition and so much fun to represent the USANA family at a gathering of 19 well-known and well-respected individuals here in the state of Utah.

It was fun to accept the award, hear the comments from fellow recipients, and more importantly recognize my wife, Amy, for allowing me to do what I do and be a huge part of our success. OK, so she’s awesome, and I’m a lucky guy, but really I have four kids all over the place, and she gives of herself so I can give my time to USANA. 🙂

Now I can’t forget something I mentioned on stage that is so true with USANA. That award recognized me in name, but it truly represented the successes of our team! I accepted it on their behalf and the behalf of our incredible USANA Associates and customers that drive my passion every single day.

It invigorated me to push harder, and I can assure you that we are working on some things that will take the USANA name to new heights in the very near future! It’s exciting, and I touched on a few points in an interview they did for the event that the team wanted to share with everyone. It’s below and it really signals some insights into what we, as a company, are doing to help our customers and Associates be a part of our USANA family, closer than they ever have before.

This is fun stuff for us, and when we see the growth in the company, the excitement in our Associates, the smiles on R&D’s faces as they discover new things, the awards, etc., etc., etc. it just makes it all worth it! It’s a movement for sure, one I’m proud to be a part of, and one that we have just begin to impact. So much more to do and so much more passion to share.
